Philadelphia watched their playoff hopes slip away in a 38-20 pounding at the hands of New England last week. Seattle suffered a 23-17 loss at home to Washington last Sunday.
Philadelphia is expected to be without QB Michael Vick (ribs) and WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) again this week. WR DeSean Jackson was benched for the 4th quarter last week and his status with the team changes week to week. The one constant for the Eagles offense has been RB LeSean McCoy (198-1,050-11). Playing on a team that usually has a 60-40 pass/run ratio, McCoy has been very reliable all season. However, he faces a defense this week that is allowing only 3.5 yards-per-rush and a front seven that will be geared to stop him. He is also a threat out of the backfield as a receiver. QB Vince Young has thrown more picks than TDs and is completing only 57.6 of his passes. DE Chris Clemons leads the Seahawks with eight sacks and will be counted on to get pressure on Young.
Seattle’s offense is predicated on the run as RB Marshawn Lynch has been effective over the past month. The Seahawks don’t have a high average per rush but face a defense this week that is soft inside vs. the run. Look for Lynch to get 25+ carries as the Seahawks hope to wear down the undersized front seven of the Eagles. QB Tarvaris Jackson hasn’t been much more effective than Young but has played better in recent weeks. The new starters on the right side of the O-line will have to contend with DE Jason Babin (10 sacks) and DT Cullen Jenkins (5.5 sacks).
ATS Pick
Philadelphia has to make a cross-country trip on a short week after another crushing loss. Their fans were all over them last week and their season has been very disappointing. Seattle is 10-5 ATS in their last 15 home games and can run the ball effectively and stop the run. Getting the three points at home is a bonus as the Seahawks have a very good chance to win this game.
